D Dubs has been a champion for the Trevor Project since 2009. He was even named a Hero by the organization for being so vocal in his support for the LGBTQ community and the prevention hotline (866.488.7386) they can call if they are depressed and/or having thoughts of suicide. This is the second PSA he’s shot for Trevor, and it aired after last Tuesday’s episode of GLEE.
At his age (22) and with his loyal following among teenagers and young adults, there is no doubt that he can make a difference. As one insightful YouTube commentator put so eloquently:
“Dear Gay, Bisexual, Trans and questioning people out there, Harry Potter loves you. Screw the haters. <3″
This is a cause I would love to see more straight celebrities and people in general take on as earnestly as Daniel has. It’s the best way to effect change in what many see as the defining civil rights issue of our generation.
